Jon H. Gutmacher is a criminal trial attorney who handles primarily firearm, weapon, and self-defense related cases in the Central Florida and Space Coast area. He is a former prosecutor, and police legal advisor. He is also an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor, and NRA Certified Refuse to be a Victim Instructor. He was one of the four primary organizers of the 1994 Tallahassee Freedom Rally that helped stop Florida’s assault weapons ban. He has appeared numerous times on national and local television on firearm and Second Amendment issues, is the author of the leading book on Florida and Federal firearms, weapons, and self defense laws entitled: “Florida Firearms Law, Use & Ownership”, has a popular pro-gun blog, is referral counsel for the NRA, and Gun Owners of America, and frequently lectures on firearm and self defense issues to both civilian, professional, and law enforcement groups.

Gary W. Burris is a retired senior engineer and he is founder and president of Lone Star Shooting Association (LSSA) located in Houston, Texas. LSSA is a 3-Gun shooting association organized as a non-profit corporation that raises funds to support gun rights and freedoms around the world. He is a defenders club member of the Second Amendment Foundation, endowment member of NRA, and life member of FISAT (the Italian gun rights organization). His travels abroad teaching classes on gun safety and sport shooting have given him an opportunity to learn and appreciate the unique efforts required to protect gun rights in those countries who do not have a Second Amendment. Understanding the importance of shooting sports as a political force to preserve gun rights as the key way to protect them is critical. The organization of shooting matches has proved to be a strong tool to help build solid court cases for the protection of gun rights in Europe.

Sheldon Clare Sheldon holds a Master of Arts degree in military history from Norwich University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of British Columbia. He teaches history and English at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, BC. Sheldon is active in the community and has served two terms as the president of his local Royal Canadian Legion. He served as a reserve officer and retired from service in 1988. He qualified as a military parachutist and is a recipient of the Special Service Medal with NATO bar and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. Sheldon Clare was elected President of Canada’s National Firearms Association in June 2010. Prior to that he served as BC Branch President of the National Firearms Association for 11 years, and was a director and area representative of the NFA for sev-eral years before that. Sheldon is also past president of the Prince George Rod and Gun Club. He has com-peted in DCRA/BCRA small–bore rifle, IPSC matches, long range centrefire, and has recently taken upshooting a flintlock. He is collects a variety of military firearms and is also a hunter safety examiner and instructor. He was a delegate at the UN ATT talks and at the UN Programme of Action on Small arms and Light Weapons in 2012. Sheldon resides with his wife Manuela and their two daughters in Prince George, BC.

Julianne Versnel is director of operations for SAF, the publisher of Women & Guns and Journal on Firearms and Public Policy. She represents the Second Amendment Foundation on the Executive Committee of the World Forum on Shooting Activities. She is the main UN representative for ACU, reminding delegates in New York and Vienna that there is a right to self-defense. She is a founding officer of the International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights (IAPCAR). Collision Course, her book about the United Nations push for gun control,is currently waiting for its final chapter as the four week ATT Confernce ended in July without consensus. It is anticipated that there will be another ATT Conference in early 2013.

Major General U.S Army (Ret.) D. Allen Youngman enlisted in the United States Army as a Private in 1969 and was commissioned through Infantry Officer Candidate School in 1970. Significant assignments included duty with the 8th and 11th Special Forces Groups; Military Assistance Command (Viet Nam); 101st Airborne Division; 149th Armor Brigade; Office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; and as the Adjutant General of Kentucky. In 2003 he retired after more than 34 years service. His awards include the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and the Special Forces Tab. His military education includes the Special Forces Officer Course, Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. His civilian education includes both a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Defense Small Arms Advisory Council, an association comprised of most US-based military firearms manufacturers.

Stephen J. Aldstadt is serving his third term as president of SCOPE Inc., Shooters Committee On Political Education, a 501(c)4 non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the right to keep and bear arms in New York State. See www.SCOPEny.org. An Endowment member of the NRA and an NRA cer-tified Range Safety Officer and instructor in Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun, he is also certified to teach rifle by the 4H Shootings Sports organization and is a Boy Scout Merit badge Councilor for Rifle and Shotgun. He serves on the executive committee of the New York Sportsmen’s advisory council and is a 2012 inductee into the New York Outdoorsmen’s Hall of Fame.

Thomas Bolioli is a Commonwealth Second Amendment co-founder and serves as the Board’s Secretary and Operations Director. He has over 17 years of experience in IT and has a Masters degree from Brown University. Mr. Bolioli has owned and operated a consulting firm in MA since 2001.

Don Moran took over the helm as President of the Illinois State Rifle Association in September of 2005 after serving on its Board of Directors since the mid 1980s. The ISRA was established in 1903 and has a long history of competitive shooting since the 1960s, legislative lobbying. Don has added the field of litigation to his arsenal in the all-out assault against the anti-gun nemesis of the universe, Chicago Politics. Since that time the ISRA has increased its number of lobbyists in the Illinois State Capital been involved in numerous legal cases, most notably as plaintiffs in SAF’s McDonald v Chicago. They have developed a state wide attorney referral system where people can easily find attorneys with firearms rights expertise and hosted a “Second Amendment and Section 1983” symposium at John Marshall Law School in Chicago that offered Continuing Legal Education Credits to practicing attorneys.

Tony Montanarella is the President of the California Rifle and Pistol Association. He has been a CRPA member since 1987 and a board member since 2001 He is also an NRA life member and a member of the Arizona State Rifle and Pistol Association, The Nevada Firearms Coalition and the Texas State Rifle Association. Mr. Montanarella is a US Marine Corps Veteran having served in the infantry, artillery and reconnaissance and is a veteran law enforcement officer with a municipal police agency in Southern California. He has been CRPA’s President since 2011. Mr. Montanarella is also President of the CRPA Foundation, an organization focusing on public education and strategic litigation in the second amendment arena. Mr. Montanarella believes that the anti-gun environment in California must be confronted by a coordinated and united coalition of pro-gun groups.

Philip Van Cleave is the President of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a position he has held since 2001. Besides having his own software business, Philip served for six years as a reserve deputy sheriff in Texas in the 70′s. In his work with VCDL he has received a “Gun Rights Defender of the Month” award in 2004 (VCDL received the CCRKBA’s Grassroots Organization of the Year award that same year). He has also represented VCDL and gun owners recently on CBS’s 60 Minutes, ABC’s Nightline, and in a cover story in the Washington Post. VCDL currently has 5,000 members and 13,000 email alert subscribers.

Senator Sam Slom is the State Senate Minority Leader from Hawaii, a private consulting economist in Honolulu and President of SMS Consultants. Sam is President and Executive Director of Smart Business Hawaii (SBH), Hawaii’s most effective independent business advocacy organization, and President of the Small Business Hawaii Entrepreneurial Education Foundation. Sam is also a contributing columnist for several publications including the Hawaii Reporter. He is an active member of the Hawaii Rifle and Pistol Association and currently serves as a Trustee and Secretary of the Second Amendment Foundation.

Sandra R. Barreras has been shooting since she was 6 years old. An air rifle champion, she joined the PR Olympic team at 17 winning Gold in Copa del Caribe in Santo Domingo, and 4th place in the Central American games in Ponce, PR. In 1993 her scores brought her team the silver team medal. The following year she joined the US National Team. Switching to international USPSA shooting, she won gold at Colombus World Cup in Guatemala, PR Copa del Caribe 2 years in a row and Florida Open. Sandra’s mother, Sandra M. Barreras started her fight to keep and bear arms as she was not allowed to get a concealed carry permit as a married woman. Her father, Jose R. Barreras along with her mother are the preeminent defenders of the right to keep and bear arms in Puerto Rico. Sandra has followed in their footsteps, rallying the media and social networks with the message of the right of the Second Amendment and is the Vice Executive President of Damas De La Segunda Enmienda.

Jim Irvine is professional airline pilot. He volunteers time to serve as Chairman of Buckeye Firearms Association and President of Buckeye Firearms Foundation. He works with legislators and interested parties to enact changes to Ohio firearm laws. Jim’s work includes working with candidates to help them better understand the various firearms related interests and disciplines. He coordinates work and funding for the Foundation’s involvement with Second Amendment related litigation. He speaks regularly with media and other interested groups to help them understand firearms related issues.

Patrick Shomo begins his second term as President of Maryland Shall Issue excited about the opportunities to work with his peers nationwide to protect and advance the rights or all lawful people to exercise their fundamental right to defend themselves and their families. His focus like that of Maryland Shall Issue is to engage civic and government leaders to advance practical carry laws to the favor of the lawful carrier. Maryland Shall Issue is a strong friend of the Second Amendment Foundation, and knows that together we will continue our streak of success.

Mark Barnes is a lawyer with 30 years of experience in government and the private sector. He is the principal of Mark Barnes & Associates, a Washington, D.C. based law firm whose sole practice area is firearms, weapons and explosives law, including both import and export control, registration and licensing issues. Mr. Barnes received his Juris Doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law in 1981 and his Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Arizona State University in 1978 where he graduated summa cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is admitted to practice before several state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Barnes and his team represent numerous members of the firearms trade, as well as firearms public policy and trade groups on transactional, regulatory, administrative and pubic policy matters in the United States and abroad.

Jeff Knox is a second generation rights activist, son of gun rights legend Neal Knox, and is Managing Director of The Firearms Coalition, a group of grass roots organizations, gun clubs, and individuals committed to protection and broader recognition of the fundamental right to arms. Jeff, along with his brother Chris, writes a weekly gun rights column for World Net Daily (WND.com) and regular columns for Shotgun News and Front Sight Magazine. They also maintain the web sites www.FirearmsCoalition.org,  www.NealKnox.com, and www.GunVoter.org along with corresponding pages on Facebook and publish a semi-monthly newsletter, the Hard Corps Report. Jeff was the recipient of the Grass Roots Activist of the Year award at the Gun Rights Policy Conference in 2007.  He and his wife, Janet, live near Phoenix, Arizona where Jeff is enjoying introducing his 6-year old grandson Ty to shooting.

Larry Pratt has been for many years the executive director of Gun Owners of America and a frequent spokesman for firearms civil rights on television and radio, as well as the author of a number of Op Ed columns which have appeared in newspaper nationwide as well as several magazines.

Joe Waldron Following a 28-year career in the Marine Corps, Lt Col Joe Waldron USMC(ret) embarked on a second vocation as a gun rights activist. In 1998 he was appointed Executive Director of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, a position he held for nearly ten years. In 2007 he “retired” to Pensacola, Florida with his wife Caterina. Not content to remain on the sidelines, he was elected a board member of CCRKBA and appointed Legislative Director of that organization. In January 2009 was elected Legislative Director of the Florida Sport Shooting Association (that state’s NRA affiliate). He has also served on the board of the WSR&PA, a trustee of the Wildlife Committee of Washington/Kenmore Ranges, and a board member and president of the Washington Arms Collectors. In addition to his gun rights advocacy, he is involved with several veterans groups.

Maria Heil is a member of the NRA board of directors and has been an NRA member for 25 years. She has been a right to keep and bear arms activists since 2000 when she joined Second Amendment Sisters (SAS), which was founded in response to the so-called “Million Mom March.” She served as SAS National Spokesperson for four years supporting Second Amendment rights with appearances on national shows- CBS’ Sunday Morning, C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, NRA News’ Cam & Company, John Walsh Show, and Pure Oxygen. Featured as the pro-gun mother and PBS-aired documentary Guns and Mothers. Interviewed by media outlets throughout the United States as well as overseas, she was a contributing editor for “Women & Guns magazine from 2004 to 2007. Active in successful election campaigns for Pro-Second Amendment candidates, she is the local friends of the NRA committee Co-Chair in 2007 and current local FNRA Committee Member.

So in this episode I have an interview with Indiana NRA Candidate Field Representative Joshua Falzone. Josh was mainly working in two districts in the state of Indiana and they are at opposite ends of the state. The travel time between the southern district and the northern district that he is working in is about five hours. So you can imagine he spending a lot of time in his car. But we’re very happy that he was able to take some time this Sunday ( July 22, 2012) two talk to us about how you could not only help Indiana if you live here. But also how you can get in contact with the right people in your state so that you could volunteer to help elect pro-Second Amendment candidates in your state.

One very good place to start to find out who you need to talk to about volunteering with the NRA is to go over to the NRA–ILA website and look up who is your election volunteer coordinator in your district. Make sure you give them a call or e-mail them to schedule some time when it’s convenient for you to volunteer.

Toppling over such a long time  politician doesn’t happen very often.  After working for the last 20 years to do what happened on May 8 I always wondered whether it would ever happen.  I’d always thought that he’d probably leave office either by choice or by death.  Never thought he’d stick around so long that he’d finally be defeated.

This means now we have a much better chance of passing good legislation and keeping out the unwanted compromise that a RINO  like Dick Lugar would always do.  I’d much rather see legislation not passed then have to compromise our freedoms and values.

Mr. Benjamin A. Magenheimer the plaintiff in the case against the city of Evansville was doing nothing more than exercising his right to carry a firearm. Indiana state law does not limit our right to carry only a concealed firearm. Far too often though individuals who are licensed to carry a firearm in our state are not familiar enough with the law to know that there is no reason why legally they cannot carry openly. So it causes confusion and when someone does at sometimes frightens individuals who are more ignorant of our laws.

Of course the media does not help and for some reason some of our citizens would much rather take the position that the media is pushing then using their own thought processes and thinking it out thoroughly before commenting in public. That is very unfortunate.

This past weekend I spent at the Gun Rights Policy Conference in Chicago in a room with nearly 800 Illinois residents who are working hard to have just the slimmest of rights that Indiana residents already take for granted. Let’s not go backwards with our freedoms and please think before you comment on something you have no direct knowledge of.

The Second Amendment Freedom Rally 2010 was again in downtown Chicago right across from Mayor Daley’s office. Again this year Mayor Daley chose not to be in his office the day of the rally, but we are sure that his staff heard us loud and clear.

CAN SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP ME?

This is a big issue to me and I need help fixing it ASAP, it has been way too long already. I have been trying to get it fixed for about a dozen years, to no avail. I have written & called numerous people & agencies. I have contacted several of you before & I am continuously given NO ANSWERS, given steps to resolves this, that leads to dead ends. I have spent many hours & several dollars doing every step that I have been advised to follow. Nothing! I have gotten nowhere.

I am being denied my 2nd Amendment rights! I have always been an avid shooter since childhood. At the age of 18, I joined the U.S. Army and was in charge of many weapons including various assault rifles, light machineguns, grenade launchers, anti-tank weapons & several other weapons during my almost 6-year tenure. I even achieved an expert marksmanship badge. I had a security clearance while I was in the military.

I currently receive jury notices & I have voted in major elections over the years. I am a fully disabled person of average stature that lives by myself in a neighborhood that is becoming increasingly worse (about  a mile from the county jail). I would be a fairly easy target for criminals. I would like to purchase a firearm for personal defense in my home, but I am denied by NICS.

When I was 16 years old; I was arrested in possession of what I called a firework, but it was deemed by the authorities; a destructive device. I was held in the juvenile hall for around 10 days. I went to court and was released to my uncles care and given probation until the age of 18. I NEVER violated the terms of my probations and was released from probation when I became 18. During the process of enlisting in the Army back in 1995/1996, I had to go down to the L.A. County Juvenile facility with the recruiter to have my record expunged, I was told that I would not be able to obtain a security clearance without first doing that. That was the last I had heard of the issue for several years.

In 1999, I was had a NICS check performed while attempting to purchase a firearm in Fayetteville, NC. I went through the appeal process that I was given by the vendor in a pamphlet; I had to submit a fingerprint card that I had to get completed at the military police station. I had to send in a processing fee to the FBI. After several letters and phone calls to the FBI; I was given a response that had told me that I needed to contact the originating department (L.A. County Juvenile Court). I did so immediately and NOTHING came of it, I did not even receive a response after sending 2 letters (checking the address after the first one to make sure I had sent the first letter to the correct address).

I had gotten caught up with other things in my life and did not further pursue it. On August 29, 2004 I suffered a brain aneurysm that resulted in me spending a few months in the hospital, fighting for my life. After my aneurysm, I was left disabled & living with my father. I knew that before long, I would be living on my own; so, again I tried to resolve the whole not being allowed to buy a gun issue. I contacted the L.A. Juvenile Court again (multiple times). I was sent paper work to fill out that was just about identical to the paperwork I had to fill out when joining the Army. Talking with them on the phone led to several very heated conversations, as they are absolutely clueless and do not respect the right guaranteed to U.S. Citizens at all! I once again filled out the paperwork as best as I could and sent it in. NOTHING! I have been busy the last few years with school (which I got on the Deans List & won a scholarship for my good grades) & physical rehabilitation.

The area in which I reside has been getting worse and once again I began trying to resolve this. NICS finally reluctantly admitted that the hold up was with L.A. County Juvenile Court. Once again, I called them. At first I was given the run around & then spoke with a lady that told me that I was given a court date in 2006 and since I did not show up, it was denied. It told her that I had never received notice of the court date- she basically called me a liar by saying that I was incorrect; one WAS sent. I knew that the conversation would soon go sour, this is a VERY important issue and I would NOT overlook a letter with news of a chance at FINALLY clearing this up so I just asked what I needed to do to fix this? She said she would mail me the paperwork to have my records sealed.

I received the paperwork from L.A. County Juvenile court today. It is the same form I have filled out twice before. It has a place to list the charges, dates & disposition. The charges were given to me almost 15 years ago; I do not have that information any longer! How was I even in the military & given a security clearance if this was not cleared up already? Also, I noticed that the court hearing was to be held at the Eastlake courthouse in downtown L.A. I AM FULLY DISABLED; THE STATE TOOK MY DRIVERS LICENSE, MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WORK- HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET THERE? So, I asked if my case could be heard out here in Ventura County.

That was months ago and I have not heard any response. It seems like I keep hitting brick walls. As anti-gun as most people in California are becoming; it seems as though this issue is not important to anyone but me. The media will have a hay-day with this if my house gets robbed & I am injured or killed and it comes into light that the very government that I gave up so much to defend is denying me the right to protect myself from such an event.

I am corresponding with Congressman Elton Galleglys staff, but I have been doing so for several months and keep getting no results, they cannot even tell me WHY I am being denied!

Please help me with this issue! I do not know where to go from here to have this corrected! Thank you in advance for your efforts!
