FAQ
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (3.3MB)
Question:
Answer:
iPOD broadCAST) An audio broadcast that has been converted to an MP3 file or other audio file format for playback in a digital music player or computer. The “pod” in podcast was coined from “iPod,” the predominant portable, digital music player, and although podcasts are mostly verbal, they may contain music. Using the RSS 2.0 syndication format, podcasts are made available to subscribers just like news feeds. The client program that captures the audio feeds and synchronizes them with the music player is a “podcatcher,” such as Juice or Ziepod available at http://ziepod.com http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/
Question:
Answer:
For those of you who are new to podcasting and do not know how to subscribe to a podcast, I’d like to explain how easy it can be.
STEP 1 Install a podcatching client. There are several out there. One of the most popular is iTunes. Another very popular one is Juice (previously known as iPodder), which is free, and runs on Windows, Macintosh and Linux.
STEP 2 Once you’ve got your podcatching client installed and running, you copy the link from the RSS feed. If you’re using Internet Explorer you will right click on the RSS/podcast button on the right side of the page. Then click copy shortcut. If you’re using Firefox right click on the same graphic but this time select copy link location.
STEP 3 Paste the link into your podcatching client. Or just copy this in to your podcast client http://gunrights.libsyn.com/rss
Then, every time a new show is released on the podcast, you’ll get it downloaded automatically. You can configure your computer it to download all the available shows. If you set it up correctly, the MP3 files will even end up right in your music library or on your MP3 player, all automatically. You can have any number of subscriptions in your podcatching client, so with just one click you can check for shows from all your favorite podcasts. You’ll see it really doesn’t make any sense visiting lots of web-pages every day and clicking on links to download individual MP3 files.
Just subscribe!
